Monks Contractors was born over 25 years ago by Chris Monk and his wife Louise. Chris was 16 years old when he decided to leave school and work in the farming industry, which led him to undertake contracting work around Lancashire. One day Chris was required to go to a landfill site, where when entering the weighbridge, a broken-down truck was blocking access to the site. Chris offered to take a look and due to having some knowledge of a fitting background, advised what the issue was and made a temporary repair to get things moving again. This resulted in the landfill site’s manager being thankful and in return gave Chris a contract with his tractor…. things only grew and developed from there.25 years later, and the company is going from strength to strength.
Monks have a fleet of 40 wagons, comprising of landfill and road units and jetting wagons. They have a vast range of plant machinery, offering some of the most sought out waste equipment required in the Industry. Monks in-house maintenance system comprises some of the most high-spec technical equipment, allowing all repairs to be done in-house quickly and effectively. The workshop encompasses an ATF test lane, where fully trained and experienced fitters, welders, auto-electrician’s and tyre men working 7 days a week to keep all their vehicles out on the road.
